Technology Development Programs

Discontinuously Reinforced Aluminum (DRA)  materials are produced by both wrought and casting routes. In each of these processing approaches, there are key manufacturing technology gaps. The Consortium has identified three focus areas for technology development programs to address these gaps:

Under the umbrella of the Consortium, teams will be formed to develop a roadmap, pursue funding, and execute the program in each technology development area. Results and intellectual property of each program will be shared by under the guidelines of the Consortium Agreement.

These programs will involve vertically integrated teams, including end users, suppliers, and technology providers, with the goal of addressing key manufacturing technology needs and facilitated by government and industry funding. The role of the Consortium will be to define and coordinate these development programs and provide seed funding for preparation and marketing of proposals.

One of the benefits of Consortium membership is the opportunity for direct participation in the development of these program areas.

Working copies of the Consortium's white papers, program opportunities, and information on potential program participants are listed in the User Resource Center, available to Consortium members only. To become a member, see the section entitled "Joining the Consortium."
