• Assess major aerospace market sectors (space, structures, propulsion, missiles, electronics)
  • ? personal contacts
  • detailed discussions w/ most relevant contacts
  • evaluate previous trade studies (DWA, 3M)

• Identify applications with significant AF payoff
  • define design-critical properties
  • identify needed material improvements

• Identify materials properties that impact the broadest range of AF requirements

• Define development and transition program

Note that the "Guidance" supplies the necessary basis for matrix development activity. Such a basis is not established for interface development

The principle development activity is currently focused on the matrix. Interface development activity will begin in Fall 1994.
