Design Guidelines for MMC Castings

• Parting line placement is critical. Metal should fall as little as possible in the mold cavity.

• Wall thickness may need to be increased. Excess superheat or high gating velocities can not be relied on to fill castings.

• Casting defects favor the cope. Critical surfaces should be designed in the drag.
